  • I O W 1960 Once Upon a Time.

You've done IOW twice so why not revisit it one last time with IOW 1960.
This was still the time of steam(Word is your no stranger to steam trains).
1st The route longer in one way which gives players more to do.
    The Route
RYDE Pier (On the Pier the station has 2 tracks maybe here's a chance to use both of them again)
    RYDE Esplanade
RYDE St John's Road (There is a 3rd platform that was hooked into the mainline at this point offering another possibility for multi train operations)
SMALLBROOK JUNCTION (opened 1994) (Steam Island Railway opened 1971) (There was a time when this line starting here may have been connected to this line, like a kind of branch line going to ASHLEY/HAVEN STREET/WOOTTON but from 1953 to 1971 Wootton or possibly this whole line was closed)
BRADING (Branch line from here closed September of 1953)
SANDOWN (Branch line from here closed February of 1956) (This might explain all that extra track behind the station island platform)
    LAKE (Open 1987)
    SHANKLIN
But the route doesn't end here it continues
    WROXALL
VENTNOR TOWN (This was a significant station on the line with a multi track platforms and many rail service building and some level of yard area). (These last 2 stops didn't close until April of 1966,so useing them at this time would still be realistic in 1960)
This was end of this line by 1960.

There was also the mention of a tunnel on this extended section of route(But i'm not sure where it was)(update the tunnel was just before you arrive at Ventor station)
Plus since there use to be a tram type train that ran between RYDE Pier and RYDE Esplanade (perfect for a AI Tram to go back and forth)

Now of course the elephant in the room is the fact that steam trains ran this route, and many people would luv a few more.
This would be a good substitute for the steam island railway and gives the current route another rebuild opportunity.

The basic steam traction around this time appears to be 0-6-0 tank engines and various smaller coaches
I also noticed a few freight wagons begin used on this route which would add extra play ability for the route.

I wish i had more details to offer but i'm hopefull this is enough to at least consider this idea.thx...

    Hey mate,

thanks a lot for sharing this suggestion - I find the idea quite interesting, Steam & the extended route would be quite interesting to make I'm sure!
Steam locos are really complicated to develop thouogh, I'm not sure if we would do that soon.

Interesting to hear about that tram - was that steam powered as well?

Anyway, will add the suggestion to our database, thanks again for suggesting!

The Tram had multiple power sources throughout it operationial time.
Started August 1864 with ½ mile of track.Between The 1st Pier and shore Pier.
      1. Horse Drawn (1864)
2.Steam Powered (Tested at some point during this time as a option)
      3.Electric Powered (1886)
      4.Petrol Powered (1927)

History for one of these trams show a restored No2 operating as of January 2022 at Haven street on the steam island railway.

Well after seeing how you put some nice upgrades into the jubilee it's a good starting point that could lead to future knowledge on how to develop a steam loco (for TSW) created by rivet games.

But theres a route in the works currently by DTG with a NEW steam loco the FLOWER F4 (0-6-0)w tender,Now tender engines on this line where seen so this could be a possible option if you ever want to possibly do this as a future project. But a 0-6-0 Tank engine is really needed for any steam era line,so DTG developing one at some point seems very likely,so if they do,it could be a possible option for this line.

Btw, found this website about the tram, quite cool to see the progress: https://iwsteamrailway.co.uk/heritag...yde-pier-tram/

Yeah interesting thought SHINO BAZ, maybe modelling the Steam Heritage Railway on the modern day version of the Island Line could be an idea as well.

There is one other option you could consider,i've noted DTG and you have teamed up to work on a few routes together maybe dtg could handle the steam locomotive side and you could handle the route side and at the same time gain some extra knowledge on TSW steam locos for whenever you feel your ready to make your own.Which ever one of these routes you do,the more help you have doing them can only make the effort potential more rewarding and successful in the end.

Before 1955 would be a lot more fantastic and more to do, as lines on the island started to close down in 1955 1966 the rest followed Before the line between Ryde and Shanklin survived just by luck then the steam railway got the line between Wootton and Havenstreet thin in 1991 reopen the line to smallbrook.
