Hi again, Now I know this is not the correct place to bring this up, but now I have your attention, what would you guys say to being the first company to do an Australian route? PLEASE read my idea for it, and it may interest you.
Sydney over the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge, (looking down on the Opera House) along the east coast to Newcastle, (double decker suburban electrics). And then include the non-electrified 4 tracks line out to Mailtand. At Maitland there is a 'Steam Festival' most years, where side by side parallel running occurs on 4 tracks. This includes VERY long diesel coal trains, and old historical diesels and railcars https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55355xzdDNY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpXrZ9HfnyI.
'Flying Scotsman' visited in 1989, so this could feature in a historical scenario.
Sydney to Newcastle is about 100km, and then out to Maitland about 20 km. In this one route you could cater for everyone, Australians, Brits, contemporary electiric/diesel and historical 'Steam' and diesel railfans. This is the link to Sydney's Great Steam Train Race 2018 (one a Garratt) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQ7bz2nzztE. There are a few good junctions along the route, and a good depot at Newcastle, plus at Maitland there are trams running next to the station. You may even be able to include a bit of the railway going underground at Sydney. It is about time someone created a route here! My idea for a route is probably the best as a start.

Hi, you have our attention by posting anywhere in our own forums, don't worry - several of us read every single comment posted, but obviously we can't reply to *everything* We've got Australia on our list as "hope to do" one day - although realistically it's not going to be soon (ie not this year at least) that we get to it. But hopefully one day, definitely

Thank you ColinM. We Aussies live in hope. Please file my idea away for the future then. It has merit. Cheers.

  • Some reflections from Iain Mackay - The developer of Suburban Glasgow Northwest

Some reflections from Suburban Glasgow creator Iain Mackay that other Train Simulator content developers may want to consider:
    · One of the requirements for creating a commercial route on Steam is to start working in a “Source” area instead of using pre-compiled assets pointing to several different providers. This also impacts on whether DRM (copy protection) can be implemented. When a route gets released, ideally it will only use one provider and product (i.e., its own)

    Hello,

This is Alex, one of the 3D environment artists at Rivet Games. I'm here to give you a brief insight into how we develop our stations. Our latest route, the Engadin Linie, allows us to present areas such as Sagliains (Rhaetian Railway station). Sagliains is a connecting station on the Bever–Scuol-Tarasp railway. It is located at 128.67km at 1432m above sea level at the exit from the Sagliains valley.
